The outer cover comes with two new options; a copper nail studded aluminum cover or a copper studded copper cover.<\/p>\n<p>There are two joinery methods; a box joint with 6 pins and 7 tails (the standard industry joint has just 3 pins and tails) or choose the new spline joint, a strong hardwood spline that is much stronger than the industry standard. This is the first year for producing a budget spline joint so we are selling these hives as seconds. The spline hive falls short of our prototype and spec sheets but the hive is still beautiful, functional, and the price point is excellent. \u00a0Both box and spline joints are secured by 8 &#8211; 2 1\/4&#8243; stainless steel screws for added strength.
