USDA Spending $8 Million More

USDA Spending $8 Million More

Reported March 17, 2014, USDA allocated $3 million to feed honeybees. Three months later another $8 million has been earmarked for the same 5 states; Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, South Dakota and North Dakota since 65% of bee colonies reside in these states during the summer. This incentive is intended to prompt dairy and cattle farmers to plant cover crops that will in turn strengthen honeybee health by providing additional forage.
