How to Tap a Sugar Maple

10-20 gallons sap/tree
40-42 gallons sap/gallon syrup
Minimum tree diameter is 10″ or a 31″ circumference
Tap 5/16″ , 4′ off ground, 15 degree angle, 2″ deep
Finished syrup is 66% sugar
Syrup is 7 degrees above the boiling point of water. Boiling temperature changes with barometric pressure, humidity, and elevation. Measure the boiling point and then add 7 degrees.
Sap flows 4-6 weeks usually March and April
